ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) - Interstate 95 in North Carolina has been closed in both directions following a fiery crash involving a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles.
The wreck occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday night inside the Rocky Mount city limits at mile marker 137. Spokeswoman Tameka Kenan-Norman said the tractor-trailer that caught fire was carrying used cooking oil. Kenan-Norman said the fire was extinguished by 11 p.m.
Kenan-Norman said one person was transported to the hospital, but she didn't know if there were any other injuries. She didn't know the type of the other vehicles involved.
The state Department of Transportation said northbound lanes would remain closed until Thursday morning. Southbound lanes were expected to reopen late Wednesday night. Traffic was at a standstill in each direction.
