WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- Tuesday night’s sports segment featured state playoff action from several high school baseball and softball teams in the Cape Fear region. We traveled to Ashley to watch the Screamin’ Eagles against Laney in a battle of Mideastern conference rivals. We also saw baseball action from Whiteville and Topsail. We featured softball action from Topsail, Laney and East Columbus as well. We featured girls soccer state playoff games as well. Hoggard was at home against New Bern, while Cape Fear Academy hosted Fayetteville Academy. We even checked out the Laney boys tennis team against Broughton. On top of that, we went to Brooks Field for a non-conference college baseball matchup between UNCW and Charleston Southern.
