If I was his lawyer, I wouldn't put him on the stand. It has nothing to do with whether or not they feel they have proven their case. They have to know that putting him on the stand will tank his case.
I like Jay Leno's explanation the best. No attorney wants to put a client on the stand that when they place their hand on the Bible, the Bible will burst into flames.
