RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued three stranded boaters whose craft capsized in the Alligator River in Tyrrell County.
The N.C. Department of Public Safety said late Wednesday that the three boaters were apparently unharmed.
Department spokeswoman Julia Jarema said local emergency personnel got a call around 6 p.m. about the stranded boaters. Rescuers were originally unable to reach the boaters because of debris in the river and rough water caused by Subtropical Storm Beryl,
The state's Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team was sent to help with the rescue, but the Coast Guard arrived just ahead of it.
