WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Firehouse subs is giving back to area fire departments.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated more than $30,000 worth of equipment today
Wilmington received two thermal imaging cameras, which detect body heat and hot spots in burning buildings. The cameras also help firefighters reach victims in half the time
"This camera, basically allows us to see in the dark, so it can certainly expedite rescues of civilians or even downed or trapped firefighters that may happen as we respond to fires and other emergencies," WFD Battalion Chief Jon Mason said.
The foundation also donated the jaws of life to the Surf City Volunteer Fire Department to help firefighters get victims from car accidents.
The foundation has given more than $3 million to ensure public safety since 2005, including more than $300,000 to public safety agencies in North Carolina.
