WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) -- The New Hanover County school board got tentative good news about the district's state funding at the board meeting Tuesday.

Education budgets that passed the North Carolina House of Representatives would give about $5 million back to the district, said Mary Hazel Small, the district's chief financial officer. But the dollars were still in the probable stage because the N.C. Senate has not yet presented its budgets, Small said.

Also Tuesday, the school board was told that school lunch prices for kindergarten through eighth-grade students will increase next year, going up to $2.10 for those students.
