Churches get tax-exempt status because they are non-profit organizations. If you start taxing churches then you need to tax every other non-profit organization out there. You do that and you will see how fast people quit donating.
The members of that church had the same freedom of speech to place what they wanted on that sign, as everyone else who placed signs at the polling places.
