Lejeune Marine charged with murder of 15-year-old girl

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- The Onslow County Sheriff's Office says a Camp Lejeune Marine was in court today accused of killing a 15-year-old girl. Pernell Devon Jones, 24, is charged with first degree murder of the teen Saturday night.

Investigators say it all started with an apparent domestic dispute between Jones and his estranged girlfriend Shermetryce Danilla Grasty. Grasty called 911 for help after she found out Jones was on the way to her home.

Investigators say there was a fight involving Jones, Grasty and her 15-year-old sister, Anita Law, who was stabbed in the abdomen. Deputies say during the fight, Jones also shot Law in the chest with a pump shotgun. She later died at the hospital

The Sheriff's Office says Jones tried to get away, but he lost control of his car, ran off the road and crashed into a ditch where a deputy caught him.

Jones is in jail without bond.
