The reporter didn't dig very deep. Why is this newsworthy? What about the bill didn't Ms. Boseman like? Why did the owner report an assault and then say it never happened? Without some essential facts, it's hard to determine what merited this story. This seems to be the standard for newspaper journalism these days. Just reprint or summarize the police report (or PR release, as the situation merits)and let it go at that. What happened to who, what, when, where, why, and how come?
