OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- New details to the animal bite yesterday at Ocean Isle Beach.

WWAY obtained the 911 call from the incident, in which an animal bit a 12-year-old boy in the water

Victim's aunt: "I don't know if my nephew has been bitten by something... Has a huge gash in his leg. We are at 131 west 1st street."
911 Operator: "He has a gash in his leg, you said?"
Victim's aunt: "He has a gash in his leg. Mom, has he been bitten by something? We think, maybe... It's a big deep gash. Might be shark, possibly."

Witnesses told us the boy was talking about something the size of his arm that swam between his legs before he felt the bite. First responders said they thought the might came from something smaller than a shark, like a bluefish.

The Town of Ocean Isle Beach has not released the identity of the victim, and there's no word on how he's doing.
