My grandfather, who passed away twelve years ago had to be put in a nursing home. He was a big man and they had to use one of those slings to help move him. About a year before he died they were moving him in the sling and somehow it slipped and he broke his shoulder. It was more than twenty-four hours before they took him to the hospital. It breaks my heart to think about him lying there in pain that long.
I am glad that my father decided to move his brother to a nursing home in Wilmington. My father goes by and sees him regularly and makes sure that things are as they should be.
No one should have to suffer the indignities that some of these places inflict on the elderly. And if they can't take the time to care for the patients, then they need to get out of the business.
