NC state inspections should have been done away with 25 years ago, we are the last of the dinosaur states left, inspections do nothing but line the pockets of beauracacy, no state around of us still has them, just the NC democrats still with their hand in our pockets, Carolyn Justice was on the band wagon about 2 to 3 years back to do away with them and all of a sudden she got off the bandwagon, guess somebody got to her too, I'd rather give the state the small fee for the inspection rather than waste 1/2 a day getting it, by the time you schedule it, drive to it, wait your time to make NC happy and get home you waste a half a day a vehicle, geez!
