RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Authorities are probing the root of an explosion that caused a fire at a home in north Raleigh.
Fire crews responded to reports of an explosion at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. But investigators say they pulled out of the house after discovering hazardous materials on the second floor.
Authorities said one person was at the home when the explosion happened and had to be decontaminated when he came out. Fire officials did not identify what contaminants were in the house but did say it wasn't safe to go inside.
Neighbors said another explosion happened at the home earlier Thursday afternoon.
