Delhomme sits out Panthers practice with elbow injury

Story body

CHARLOTTE (AP) -- Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme's sat out practice because of his strained right elbow.

It's unclear if he will play Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Linebacker Dan Morgan was out with an ankle injury. Guard Jeremy Bridges sat out with a toe injury.

Delhomme was hurt when he was sacked by John Abraham in the third quarter of Sunday's win over Atlanta. David Carr took over and led Carolina on two scoring drives for the win. Carr would start if Delhomme can't play. An MRI on Monday showed no structural damage to Delhomme's elbow.

Coach John Fox would not provide any further information on Delhomme's injury.

The Panthers today signed quarterback Quinton Porter to the practice squad. They released running back Alex Haynes.
