My used skiff cost me about the same as a new jet ski, so this isn't about economic class - it is about having class in general. I do know a few people with jet-skies who don't run them like idiots, but that isn't the norm.
I remember back when I took my boater safety course, the instructor was explaining how there is a limit on how close PWCs can get behind boats. A very classy lad with a chin-strap asked "How close can a boat get to behind another boat?"
The instructor said "There isn't a rule about that."
Chin-strap - "Well that's messed up, how come you all picking on us jet-skiers?"
Instructor - "Because you're the annoying ones that can get people killed trying to jump wakes."
jet skies suck
