WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Wrightsville Beach Town Manager Bob Simpson has announced his retirement in a letter to the town.
Simpson gave his letter of intent more than a week ago. We spoke with Simpson over the phone today.
He says it's simply his time to go. Simpson told WWAY that when he accepted the job, he intended to stay five years, and now he's been there more than seven.
In the letter, Simpson says, "I announce my departure with some degree of sadness, but with the knowledge that the Town is in sound financial condition and a dedicated professional staff will continue to provide exceptional service to the community."
Simpson's final day will be November first of this year.
