Man charged in connection with synthetic drug overdose death

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Sheriff's Detectives have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman, who apparently overdosed on a synthetic drug last month. Jeremy Martin Leutgens is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Leutgens admitted to 911 operators to supplying and consuming the synthetic drug 25-I with Stephanie Chappell Hobson, 25, who later died.

Deputies arrested Leutgens Friday. He is in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under $500,000 secure bond.
