WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- A young man with ties to former Sen. R.C. Soles is back in court.

No cameras are allowed in the courtroom, but we caught Wright on camera being escorted in.

Wright faces a host of charges, including cocaine and marijuana possession, resisting and delay and a habitual felon charge. All of the charges stem from incidents early last year.

Monday was the first day of jury selection in the trial. It will continue Tuesday. The process of selecting 12 unbiased citizens is taking a little longer than usual, because of Wright's public personal life and criminal history.

Wright's most recent run-in with the law happened about two weeks ago when he jumped out of a second story window at the Columbus County Courthouse. Wright was in court that day for various other charges. When he was held for drug-testing, wright took the plunge.

Monday, Wright was ordered to wear restraints to prevent a similar situation. He wore a taser belt and knee braces under his clothing so potential jurors could not see them.

Monday, Wright was very quiet in the courtroom and let his lawyer Scott Dorman do all the talking.

Although this trial is for five charges, wright currently has 21 pending charges against him.
