Easements, the size of the lot, the franchise license were all items that simply had to be in place before a deal could be finalized. Council members had to be aware of that. Regardless of that, they chose to announce the hotel was a done deal, just as they had countless times before.

There can be only two possible reasons for that happening: They either don't have the competence to deal with these types of issues or they choose to not speak the truth. Maybe both.

Either way, they don't sound like the kind of leaders anyone should blindly follow down the proverbial rabbit hole in search of a new taxpayer funded stadium. The Mad Hatter may get a cut of the action, the Cheshire Cat may be sporting his sly smile with an inside deal, but the taxpayers will just be the recipient of the Queen of Hearts famous phrase "Off with their heads !!"
