They list the cost of the laptops, but there's no mention of the new smaller mount needed for the smaller car and smaller laptop. So, we start with a $656 laptop, and add in a mount for between $200 - $300, then we need a 12 volt docking cradle which runs at least $200 - cars don't have 120 volt AC outlets.....
On top of this, it's unlikely they got anything resembling a ruggedized computer for that price, which means they probably won't last long given the harsh environment they will be used in. Then, there's the issue of securing them in a mount that they can be easily removed from, while still preventing them from falling out while the vehicle is in motion. There really is a reason that police agencies buy Toughbooks, and they are quite a bit more expensive than $650, and you still need the rest of the toys I mentioned.
