When Charlotte built their white elephant, $300 million dollar arena, for a NBA team, they were so in debt, they had to fire hundreds of police / fire. Crime, and lawsuits, skyrocketed.
Fayetteville lost $100 million, and is still losing hundreds of thousands, a year, on their arena.
If Fayetteville is 3X bigger then us, and Charlotte is 15X bigger, and they can't substaintate a major league NBA team, how in the world can were support a minor league baseball team ?
Our last AAA minor league team, the Port City Roosters, lost millions, and played the last half, of their 2nd, and last year, to crowds of less the 1,000 people, even though you could walk in for free.
We already have a minor league team, that plays at a very nice Legion Stadium, to 1/2 to 3/4 full crowds, at bargain prices. The Sharks and our old, traditional, Legion Stadium, are just right, for this town.
