Values Bus makes a pit stop in New Hanover County

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) -- The Democratic National Convention is in Charlotte, but the Values Bus is in New Hanover County.

The bus is sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and is traveling between swing states ahead of the November election.

The conservative group is raising awareness about government spending, national debt, social issues, and the role of government in today’s society.

"Both republicans and democrats have been guilty of kicking the can down the road when it comes to spending and getting issues like entitlements under control,” said Genevieve Wood, of the Heritage Foundation. I will say it is finally refreshing to hear some candidates talk about shrinking the size of government. That’s why we're here to echo that view."

The Values Bus will be headed out of town Tuesday night on it’s way to Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention.
