Why don't these reporters get their facts straight instead of just repeating whAt they hear. The fact is, money she says was used for the convention center that could be used instead for beach renourishment can only be used - by state law approved by General Assembly - for the convention center, nothing else. She also fails to mention that the hotel room tax money paying for the convention center was set up by the General Assembly just for the convention center and can't be used for anything else. Lastly, she also fails to mention that hotels inside the city limits already pay for 48% of all beach renourishment in New Hanover County.
