I have lived in the area since before MOTSU built in the early 50s and I have never heard of anyone having a hunting accident on the base. For one thing there is no alcohol allowed. As for people getting shot unless you are on restricted property and look like a deer It just not going to happen. The locals know that they are not suppose to be on the military property and for those visiting it is well marked. Now for those parents that are still worried about the kids? PARENTS WATCH YOUR KIDS. I guarantee there will be more children drown than will ever be shot, but you still bring them or live on the beach.
It probably would have been a good idea for them to notify the local governments, but they didn't so get over it.
