Wilmington family escapes house fire

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) -- Hot spots continue to burn after a Wilmington family escaped from an early morning house fire.

It happened at a residency in the Beau Rivage golf resort community near Monkey Junction.

Crews arrived at 1017 Rivage Promenade at 3:00 a.m., and quickly contained the flames.

The family that lives in the house was outside when crews arrived. Firefighters say the family awoke to the smoke alarm going off, and got out of the house safely.

No injuries have been reported, and no word yet on what caused the fire.

Crews say they will be on the scene into the morning hours to investigate.
