Thank you for your comment "Office Fan". This is a 4 hour event. And yes, the event could have been held elsewhere, like Mayfaire, Brunswick Forest, Carolina Beach, or Wrightsville Beach. Thank goodness that is not the case! Instead WDI fought to put on the event and bring an extra 600-1000 people to downtown that would not normally spend the day here! Praise to WDI! It is the hope these folks will walk around, find a new shop or watering hole, spend the day, leave some cash and go home with a plan to come back again.
Why must you see the negative in everything? Want your business to be successful? How about support a thriving downtown where all organizations work together for the benefit of the greater good?
Do you complain during Azalea Festival? How about Riverfest? Look up the economic impact of those events and tell me downtown does not benefit. Every event has to start somewhere.
