The closure of the Cape Fear Memorial bridge and the way it is being handled is nothing short of a nightmare! Everyone is being funneled to the 421 exit, but instead of enabling the use of both lanes to the access, one lane is obstructed by orange barrels. Who is the genius that came up with this idea? All they had to do was put the barrels straight across the road leading to the Memorial bridge and there could have been two lanes instead of one! Also where was the police presence? I saw folks driving down the medians, blocking traffic flow, cutting in front of other cars with no signals or warning of any kind, but I didn't see any kind of police (local, state, county) anywhere. If I were a tourist to the area I would think long and hard about visiting our area again. This isn't even talking about the work that has been going on on 3rd st. for ever. Seems like the people running our area need to step up and take charge instead of looking the other way!
