RIP Stadium Bond

Another nail in the coffin for the stadium bond. Insurance companies want a rate increase, Progress Energy wants a rate increase, the CFPUA will want a rate increase next year, City Stormwater Services going up by 5%. My property taxes went up 200 dollars this year (remember how property appraisals were supposed to be revenue neutral).

This argument about how a stadium will only cost about the price of an expensive latte per week is a laugher. In the face of all of the above, the bond just adds to the misery.

Above all else, government (COW) is not asking the taxpayers to pay for a public good (sidewalks, infrastructure, lighthouses) in macroeconomic terms. They are asking us to pay for some for that is not for open public use without paying a ticket price. A for-profit expenditure where fatcats like Saffo (and the County's Barfield...literally) get a free club box view and the taxpayers get the bleachers at "the price of a movie ticket" is asinine.

Sputter, sputter, cough, cough...the bond plane is in an uncontrolled nose dive into the alfalfa.

No to fuzzy math on attendence, no to fuzzy math on costs, no to fuzzy math on jobs and revenues. Vote NO stadium tax.
