The neighbors' remarks seemed to underscore how much animosity is still lingering over Gott's acquiring of a special-use permit in 2006 to convert part of the Chestnut Street house into a law office. The permit was opposed by those who viewed it as undermining the neighborhood feel in an area already overrun with businesses.
That sentiment was echoed at Tuesday's meeting. "She doesn't lay her head there. She works there," Pat DeYoung, a Chestnut Street resident, told the three-member elections board.
