Onslow man, Wilmington woman busted for pot grow house


SNEADS FERRY, NC (WWAY) -- A Sneads Ferry man and a Wilmington woman are charged with running a marijuana grow house in Sneads Ferry.

The Onslow County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit and the Naval Criminal Investigation Service conducted a search warrant at 2487 NC Highway 172 in Sneads Ferry Friday after deputies got a tip from investigators at Camp Lejeune that the house was being used to grow marijuana.

During the search investigators say they found two large marijuana plants in the back yard. They also say they found a room inside that appeared to be a room used for drying harvested marijuana for use.

Officers seized about six pounds of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia from the home.

Ryan Tewksbury, 29, of Sneads Ferry, and Jessica Whelton, 25, of Wilmington are charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana; manufacture marijuana by cultivation; maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia.
