As the 11:00 am advisory reflects Sandy is now a hurricane, and the current forecasted error swath does indeed include all of the Outer Banks, I would not charge WWAY with hyping anything. A large storm can oscillate very easily.
There is a fine balance to forecasting storms, somewhere between Chicken Little and Rip Van Winkle. The Weather Channel has lost that balance. They are now always in full ratings Chicken Little mode.
