81 families step up to host Marines at Thanksgiving

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Port City Java has enough families to host Marines for its second annual Make a Marine's Thanksgiving drive.

Port City Java CEO Steve Schnitzler says all 165 Marines from Camp Lejeune will have a family to spend the day with.

More than 81 families will participate this year. That's three times the number from last year. Schnitzler says he has had an overwhelming number of families calling in to volunteer, but no more are needed.

The Marines will be bussed down to Wilmington Thanksgiving morning.

Schnitzler hopes to make next year even bigger and even expand into Brunswick County. He also wants to thank everyone who has volunteered to open their homes this year.
