Man arrested for attempted murder

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A man is in jail in New Hanover County charged with trying to kill a woman. The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office says Rusty Randall, 29, is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and other crimes.

Investigators say around 11:30 p.m. Saturday deputies responded to shots fired at 3221 Woolwitch Court. They found a woman who had been shot. The victim was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she is being treated.

Randall was arrested Sunday by Pender County deputies on unrelated warrants. Yesterday he was charged with the additional felonies connected to the shooting.

Randall made his first court appearance this morning. He is currently in the New Hanover County Jail under a $1,006,000 secure bond.
