Recipe Directions
2 packages (8 squares each) semi-sweet baking chocolate*
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts or sweetened flaked coconut (toasted*), optional
Line an 8-inch square pan with foil. Set aside.
Microwave* chocolate and milk in a large microwaveable bowl on high 2 to 3 minutes or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring halfway through heating time. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
Stir in vanilla and nuts or coconut, if using. Spread fudge into prepared pan.
Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Cut into 1-inch squares. Store in an airtight-container at cool room temperature or refrigerate.
* Cooking Notes
For testing we used Baker's brand chocolate but any brand of baking chocolate can be used.
Top of Stove Preparation: Heat chocolate and condensed milk in heavy 2-quart saucepan on very low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat. Continue as directed in recipe.
