The AIDS quilt is tacky, just as the pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness are tacky. I would never wear a pink ribbon--I'm sick of these ribbons that attempt to prettify cancer.
I abhor the sentimentalizing of disease, and the AIDS quilt is nothing but maudlin sentimentality.
