WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Though spring is still a ways off, the Azalea Festival is already starting to bloom.
Monday evening during a board of directors meeting, the official Azalea Festival artist was announced. Her name is Elizabeth Singletary, a Wilmington artist who specializes in collage pieces. The piece she completed for the festival is made completely from magazines clippings and past Azalea Festival programs.
“It's such an honor and I’m still kind of in shock,” Singletary says. “This is just a fabulous group of people to work with, such a positive thing for our community and positive fun people.”
Singletary says the entire piece took about two weeks, or 40 hours to complete.
