One problem is the median itself. It is 5 inches tall and falling apart. Small stones are breaking off and creating a slippery surface like ball bearings or marbles that can cause motorcycles to slip.
The biggest issue is the highly irregular angles of the intersection. Front street should be blocked off from entering Burnett Rd all together. Just make it a dead end at the ball fields. Next tear down Han-Dee Hugo's and arch Carolina Beach Rd to the left to intersect Burnett Rd at a true 90 degree angle. Cut down those trees at the intersection for greater visibility. There you go, problem solved, lives saved, with the cost of restaurant and a bit of paving. I truly hope a city planner submits this for study, because I truly believe this is the best answer to make this intersection safe. ~Roy Mattison, Engineer
