WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say officers responding to an apparent suicide had to call in a HAZMAT team to a home at 2004 Market Street last night.
Officers found potassium cyanide, which can create hydrogen cyanide gas when mixed with water, according to the Wilmington Fire Department.
Police say a 42-year-old man appears to have killed himself by inhaling or ingesting the potassium cyanide. Investigators are waiting on an autopsy to confirm that. The man's name has not been released.
