Now if he can have the stones to stand with Republicans and demand significant cuts in "give a way program" spending while working on a reasonable tax adjustment, he'll show he understands the dynamics of his new electoral base. He won't be able to dump $50 million on the Lumbee Tribal Council any more to ensure re-election.
If he doesn't, he could become former Congressman in 2 years.
