WILMINGTON, NC (CFCC) -- Cape Fear Community College Athletic Director, Robert McGee, officially announced Chris Libert to take the helm of the Sea Devil men's soccer program. Since 2006, Libert has lead the women's program to an overall record of 98-23-7, and earned 5 Region 10 Championships along the way.

"Coach Libert has proven himself on the pitch over the last few years. He is a competitor and one of the best recruiters we have on staff. This move is a natural progression for Coach, and professionally will challenge him for years to come", commented McGee.

Coach Libert's lady Sea Devils won the Region 10 tournament title five times ('06-'10), and the Regular Season title five times ('06,'07, '10 and '11, '12) respectively. The CFCC women's soccer program compiled a Region 10 record of 76-6-3 and a 98-23-7 overall. In Region 10, the Sea Devils scored a total of 407 goals, conceding only 47 in the seven years of existence. While under Libert's leadership, 4 NJCAA All-Americans, 4 Players of the Year, and 49 All Region players have been recognized.

Coach Libert played professionally in the USISL (Currently United Soccer Leagues) with the Eastern Shore Sharks (Maryland) of the Pro League and the Cocoa Expos - PDL. He then turned to the administration side of the game, where he served as the General Manager and Director of Soccer Operations for the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Division II for the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Libert served as the Hammerhead's assistant and goalkeeping coach for the '06 and '07 seasons. Libert lettered as a Goalkeeper at East Carolina University ('91-'95) while pursuing a BS degree in Recreation and Leisure in '96 and eventually a Master's degree in Exercise Sports Science in '98 while serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Pirates.

Libert currently is a staff coach and Assistant Director of Coaching for the Pleasure Island Soccer Association. He has also coached in many other youth organizations in the United States as well as in the collegiate and professional ranks. Currently, he holds a National Coaching License with the NSCAA.

The Sea Devil athletic administration will open a national search for the head women's soccer coach effective immediately. To view the entire job description and apply online, visit http://cfcc.edu/jobs/ and click on "Employment Opportunities".
