LELAND, NC (WWAY)-- Leland hosted its 20th Annual Christmas Parade and Festival this weekend. People lined Village Road Northeast from Bojangles to the First Baptist Church to catch the Christmas spirit. Leland police and members of the ROTC program lead the parade, while fire fighters and important members of office including Mayor Brenda Bozeman followed. Winners of the Miss North Carolina Christmas Festival Scholarship Pageant also made appearances at the parade.
Residents say the Christmas parade and festival is a great way to get the community together and involved in something fun. Children were excited to see the bright lights and parents were happy to watch some of their own take part in a community event.
Wendy Andrews arrived at the parade around 7:30 in the morning in anticipation. She and her kids picked a good spot near the CVS on Village Road NE. She said she was excited to see her daughter, a member of the ROTC, march down the road.
