WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- New Hanover County Commissioners have called a special meeting Friday, where they may consider the chair of the county's ABC Board to fill an open commission seat. Commissioners will review and consider the recommendation of the Republican Party to fill the vacant seat. Commissioner Jonathan Barfield told WWAY the GOP's executive committee may recommend Thomas Wolfe. The County Commission appointed Wolfe to a three-year term on the ABC Board in 2010. Barfield said he received an e-mail this morning asking him to support Wolfe. Commissioners need to replace Republican Rick Catlin, who resigned after winning election to the North Carolina House of Representatives last month. The New Hanover County Republican Party is scheduled to meet tomorrow night to make its nomination. County Commissioners will meet to act on that nomination Friday at 1 p.m. in the Harrell Conference Room at the New Hanover County Government Center.
