6th grader at NC middle school killed at bus stop


KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a sixth grader at a Forsyth County middle school has died after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle as he crossed a road to board a school bus.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports ( ) that 11-year-old Hasani N.W. Wesley of Kernersville died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The N.C. Highway Patrol said Hasani had missed his bus for East Forsyth Middle School. The bus turned around and was heading in the opposite direction. Hasani was crossing the road to reach it when he was hit Wednesday morning

According to the bus driver, her lights were flashing and the arm was out to warn motorists to stop.

An investigation into the accident is continuing.
