Paul, you have it all wrong. Congress voted and agreed that on Jan 1st 2013 taxes would go up on everybody and drastic spending cuts, mainly defense and education would take place if congress couldn't or refused to address the deficit. Everybody knows that the president put 1.2 trillion in cuts in place in 2011 and offered another 1.2 trillion in the last round of talks. He also ask that taxes not be raised on 98% of all Americans. It turned out that the House Republicans refused this offer and for some very strange reason voted last night to save nothing on the deficit but allow 98% of Americans to keep the tax cut. The way I see it the Republicans just blew 1.2 trillion in savings?????
