Deputies say shootings that cross state lines may be connected

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The Columbus County Sheriff's Office says two shootings on Friday that cross state lines may be connected. Police say Timothy Goings and Natasha Smith were shot Friday in the Green Acres community in Tabor City.

According to investigators, Goings died due to a self inflicted gunshot wound. Smith was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Police believe another shooting in Loris, South Carolina is connected. Investigators found Goings's roommate show to death.

The investigation into both deaths is ongoing.
