Donn Ansell honored for support of arts in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington's arts community honored late media personality and arts patron Donn Ansell this morning.

The Community Arts Center named its Lower Atrium Studio after Ansell for his contributions in saving the Cultural Resource Center, as well as his contributions to the artistic community in Wilmington.

Mayor Bill Saffo also unveiled a memorial plaque praising Ansell, who died last year.

"To see Donn's name outside this studio, where people will use this for dance classes and special events, to have his presence always in this building makes us all very happy," Thalian Association Managing Director Susan Habas said.

Ansell will be honored again tonight at the Wilmington Theatre Awards at Thalian Hall.
