'Twilight' helping put new roof on Forks library

FORKS, WA (AP) -- If you're trying to put a new roof on the library, it helps if your town is the setting for a popular book and movie series.

The Friends of Forks Library roof fund received a $100 donation from the Alexander County Friends of the Library in Taylorsville, NC, which held a "Twilight" themed sleepover for teens.

Friends of Forks Library treasurer Ellen Matheny told the Peninsula Daily News the fund has received donations from all over the nation, thanks to the popularity of Stephenie Meyer's books.

The fund has raised $75,000 of its $175,000 goal. The remaining $600,000 for the roof and library renovation will come from a levy and timber tax revenue.
