That's a huge snap judgment to make on the "African-American community." First of all, children born out of wedlock are definitely NOT limited to just African-Americans, considering how many White, Hispanic, Asian and even interracial children are born the same way. Secondly, the more we continue to segregate the "African-American community," the longer this nasty cycle of racism continues. Yes, education starts at home; however, the child's best chance at life is a positive role model who involves him OR herself with the child in all areas of the child's life. No one has to be married in order for a child to succeed in life. In fact, I see more children torn apart by divorces than children raised by a single mother or father. This is the 21st century: why do I feel like lately we are living in the 1960s?
