WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) -- New Hanover County Commissioner Thomas Wolfe announced Tuesday morning that the ABC Board has donated $100,000 to help fund security officers at all elementary schools.

Wolfe said the ABC Board typically distributes some of its profits to the city of Wilmington and the beach towns, but this time they asked if it could be put toward a specific purpose. The city of Wilmington, Carolina Beach, and Wrightsville Beach agreed.

During discussions of increased security measures at county elementary schools earlier this month, Wilmington committed to helping provide four officers, Carolina Beach committed to one officer and Wrightsville Beach agreed to give funds for one officer. The ABC Board donation will be split amongst these entities to fund these commitments.
