WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say a man was taken to the hospital last night after jumping onto the hoods of two vehicles stopped for a train on 5th Avenue at Martin Street.
Witnesses say the man appeared to jump on the hood of one car, causing it to drive off and throwing him to the ground. He then jumped on the next car in line. As that driver made a u-turn to get away, he hit the man on the ground.
Police will not charge the driver. They have not released the name of the jumper, because he is still in the hospital.
Investigators say the first vehicle involved, a black SUV, and the two people who were with the injured man were not at the scene when officers arrived. Any witnesses to the incident are asked to come forward or to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600. Information also may be submitted anonymously through Text-A-Tip.
